Wedding Invitations On A Budget

Your wedding day will be the most important event you ever coordinate.  So it’s only normal to want to have the most lavish wedding invites.  After all, it will set the tone for what kind of event this is most definitely going to be.  Many of your close friends and family will treasure this sentimental piece for years to come.  But how does one create the ideal wedding invitation without spending enormous amounts of dollars?  Following are a few helpful ways to help you with the financial headache that comes with planning your wedding.

Creating your own wedding invitations is simple and can be done relatively inexpensive.  It will however take some time although it will all be worth it in the end.  There are a great deal of companies online that sell high quality cardstock.  You must have cardstock, a paper cutter, a glue stick or adhesive double sided tape, envelopes, and of course, a good printer.

First, you will need to decide on which colors you are choosing for the wedding day.  If you are selecting a theme, like the beach for instance, you can include that with your wedding invitations also.  Once you have chosen colors, theme, etc. you can then purchase the appropriate items to create your perfect invites.  If you want to go slightly more formal, one elegant way is to purchase thin cardboard, pre-cut to a 5×7 piece.  Go toDrive to your nearest fabric store and purchase satin fabric.  Next step is to wrap that cardboard in fabric keeping it together with fabric glue.  Then, glue a piece of 4.75 x 6.75 thick cardtock on top of that, leaving a ¼ inch border.  After that, layer that with theyour printed invitation – a 4.50 x 6.50 piece of cardstock and choose a satin ribbon to for an added touch.  The result: A simply elegant invitation for a fraction of the price.  There are also a wide assortment of jewels and beads you can add to embellish your invitation.

Remember, you should not order the envelopes until you are sure of the invitation size.   People mistakenly of getting the envelopes first and then realizing they need to make their invitation a different size.  It is also very simple to add envelope liners for your invitations.  Once again, it requires time and effort on your part so if you don’t have the time, you might not choose to go with that additional touch.
