The premium German domestic appliance company, Miele, has taken delivery of its first batch of an order for 70 new Volkswagen Transporter Kombi Vans – making it one of the first companies to take delivery of the new Transporter following its launch in January.
The new Transporters were staged as part of Miele’s in progress(p) vehicle refilling programme to update its fleet of 110 vans. Not surprisingly, as a supplier of high quality appliances, Miele has chosen to keep its van fleet exclusively Volkswagen, and all in a unique bright red colour.
‘We required a fleet that was reliable and one that could meet the thriving needs of our customers,’ said Tony Stephens, Miele Fleet Operations Manager.
‘The Volkswagen Vans Range has everlastingly been democratic with our technicians, so we were very euphoric to progress to the new and more refined Transporter. In step-up to the quality and serve we are delighted with the consistently strong resale values of the vehicles,’ he continued.
The added refinement, as well as improved fuel economy, lower noise and cleansing agent Euro5 emissions are thanks to Volkswagen’s latest 2.0-litre, four-cylinder common rail TDI engine which replaced the Transporter’s former 2.5-litre, five-cylinder unit. Visually, the new Transporter is distinguished by its new frontal styling in line with the latest Volkswagen rider cars and now also has added safety features such as ESP (Electronic Stabilisation Programme) standard across the range. Volkswagen will launch the Transporter Sportline Kombi Van late in 2010
Simon Elliott, Director of Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles, commented: ‘We’re very pleased to hear that the Transporter is so popular with Miele and the technicians that drive it every day. We’re sure that the steps forward in quality and refinement of the new models, conjunctive with lower running game costs, will also be much gratifying.’
