Experience Antarctica

This ninety-one year-old citizen has enjoyed the ability to travel far and wide.  She recently visited Antarctica. She saw it with her very own eyes, not in a magazine or on television. During her two previous trips to the area, she?d not seen Antarctica. This time she was actually able to view it. She flew over Antarctica, though she never did land.
This time she got close to Antarctica as the plane flew over, but she didn’t get to set foot on land.
The plane flew over Antarctica for four hours and she witnessed glaciers, fjords and mountain passes. They even got within 300 feet of the ground. One mountain range they flew by was covered in fog. Good weather, clear skies and sunshine, afforded great views that day. They traveled in mid march, which marks the end of Antarctica?s summertime. The air temperatures were sub-zero. One scientist, a naturalist who researched on the continent was the tour guide and lecturer on board.

Our traveler really wanted to glance some penguins on this trip. Other passengers were able to see a distant colony of penguins, she didn’t see those, but soon got her chance. They visited the Falkland Islands, near Argentina, on a cruise ship. She boarded yet another boat to get to the East Falkland Island. Hundreds of Magellan penguins live on one beach there. These are the tallest of the penguins.

After flying from the United States for sixteen hours, they cruised from a South American city. Passengers could opt to swim in the ship?s pool, in addition to travelling to many ports of call. She did go swimming and was granted? a certificate for her courageousness. Ignoring the cold, she set out to realize another adventure
After the ship reached Chile, the tourists were driven to Santiago, which they toured. They then flew to Rio. Perfect weather accompanied the three week cruise. Even the difficult to find Southern Cross, the smallest constellation, was conspicuous to all passengers.

When visiting South America before, the ninety-one year old cruised the continent’s major river and touredone city. Loss of bird habitats from deforestation in the jungles surrounding that major river were a major concern of our traveler. Her adventures have taken her to Africa where she went on Safari.  This trip was to visit the last of this world’s continents.  She had now seen them all over her lifetime.  . Antarctica was conquered with a four hour flight.
