Uses for Contemporary and Traditional Wall Lights

We spend much of our time at home in the lounge or bedroom, so we can really benefit from the effects of either contemporary or traditional wall lights.

Wall lights work in conjunction with ceiling lights and even floor standing lamps. They are not strictly necessary in smaller rooms but offer a good alternative to harsh main lights.

When selecting lighting for you home, the size of the room and the style of its décor will be the two main factors you should consider. There is more scope in larger rooms since large, hanging lights and small flush lights can be used. Small rooms look better when fitted with flush lights.

Whatever the size of the room either contemporary or traditional wall lights can be used. For smaller rooms, both contemporary and traditional wall lights can be bought in small sizes. Whether small or large lights are chosen, they should match the ceiling light fitting or be in the same finish.

Contemporary and traditional wall lights may also be used in the bedroom, and are particularly useful for those people who enjoy reading. They should be positioned either side of the bed, at a low level and each light should have its own separate switch. Again, it is ideal if the wall lights can be matched to other metal work in the room such as wardrobe door handles and ceiling lights and perhaps even bases of other lamps, if there are any.

Contemporary wall lights are simple and easy to fit, and most traditional wall lights are too. However, bear in mind that wall lights may use different shaped light bulbs, such as candle shaped ones. If traditional wall lights are actual antiques then they might not be compatible with modern energy saving light bulbs. If you are hoping to use an antique fitting, check light bulb compatibility before buying.
